The symposium is being jointly organised by ISRO, ADA & DRDL.
ISRO: Indian Space Research Organization is
the nodal organization for space research in
India. The prime objective of ISRO is to
develop space technology and its application to
various national tasks. ISRO has established
two major space systems, INSAT for
communication, television broadcasting and
meteorological services, and Indian Remote
Sensing Satellites (IRS) system for resources
monitoring and management. ISRO has
developed two satellite launch vehicles, PSLV
and GSLV, to place INSAT and IRS satellites in
the required orbits.
Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC),
situated in Thiruvanthapuram, is the lead
Centre for launch vehicle development in
India. It is named after Dr. Vikram A. Sarabhai,
the founding father of Indian Space
Programme. The centre pioneers the launch
vehicle projects of ISRO.
Aeronautical Development Agency, Bangalore, an autonomous body under Ministry of Defence, is presently functioning as the nodal agency for the design and development of TEJAS, India's light Combat Aircraft (LCA).
Defence Research & Development Laboratory (DRDL) is the premier Laboratory in the Country for design and development of guided missiles, from very short range anti- tank missiles to long range multistage missiles currently under development are air-to-air ASTRA and multi role multi purpose joint venture missile Brahmos, flying hypersonic scramjet engine demonstrator is the latest technology initiative in this laboratory.
